Jean Georges Steakhouse Las Vegas: a traditional American steakhouse with stylish decor and a romantic experience. Located inside the new ARIA Resort & Casino at City Center, Jean Georges is the perfect place if you’re looking for something upscale and contemporary, and have a strong appreciation for good food. Featuring high quality meats, seafood from around the world and special homemade sauces, it’s exciting to have such an authentically “good” restaurant here in our city.
To solidify my claims of this being a good steakhouse, Jean-George’s resume consists of multiple three and four star restaurants throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Shanghai and Hong Kong, not to mention his publication of numerous cook books. Enough said? I was fortunate to experience this restaurateur’s work first hand by visiting his latest work here in Las Vegas. Here is my review:
How would you like to feel like you’re a world away, even if you’re just on your hour-long lunch break? Chef Kerry Simon is now affording you that opportunity!
With the new “30-Minute Lunch” meal at Simon Restaurant atop the sixth floor at Palms Place Hotel and Spa, you’ll get the ultimate power lunch with three distinctly grouped selected to satisfy your pallets. Best of all, you’re guaranteed to be in and out in 30 minutes! Here’s what you get:
The first time I made plans to go shopping at the Fashion Show Mall here in Las Vegas, I was elated. I heard that several days a week, in the middle of the mall, a runway is set up and there are models stomping out the new lines available in the stores. Hello, Awesomeness. Then I saw the mall and my eyes popped out of my head! Who parked the UFO on the strip?!
Diane Von Furstenberg at the Palazzo is dress heaven! So many styles; so many lengths; so few days in the week! Those who know me well know that I am mostly “Rocker Chic” and partially a “Girly Girl.” Diane Von Furstenberg shares this with me! She is blowing me away this season/year.
This store is full of choices and it is impossible to pick a few things. I love the prints this season. Large, colorful, friendly, bright flower-esque prints are everywhere. Then the little black dresses. There is a sheer black dress that I am still swooning over.
Blush Boutique Nightclub hosted a celebration last night in honor of “The Next Big Thing,” which featured up-and-comers here in Las Vegas. Holly Madison’s co-star Angel Porrino from the new reality show “Holly’s World” was named one of Sin City’s up-and-comers by Blush Nightclub Las Vegas.
Upon receiving her plaque, Angel Porrino screamed with excitement before joining friend Laura Croft to party until nearly 2:30am. Our congrats goes out to Angel Porrino for her award last night as well as her new success with reality television. I’d also like to congratulate Erin Ketner of Las Vegas, for her “Next Big Thing” nomination as well! Keep up the great work!
They say poker is a game that takes minutes to learn and years to master. When you’re in the city where poker is like a second language, the thing to learn is when to quit. I find the game of Texas Hold’em to be a sort of war like card game. Here you have 9 people sitting around a table, strategizing and manipulating and fighting for the pot in the middle. It’s bloody without the blood. Every day, an endless butcher’s bill is made of players who bust and go broke. Poker is a brave man’s game. Or woman.
I spent this morning (by this morning, I mean 1 am) sitting in the poker room at Sante Fe Station Casino. The casino itself is one of my favorites because of the atmosphere. Don’t get me wrong, I love the strip and there is nothing that compares to the golden veneer of their architecture, but if you’re looking for a nice place to lay low or see a movie or get away from the chaotic sea of vacationers, Sante Fe Station works well. The poker room there is easy going. Nothing that will blow your mind like The Rio’s WSOP room (which is my favorite place in Vegas), but it is quaint and accommodating.
My normal reaction when I walk into the FENDI store at Via Bellagio is a gasp and I cover my mouth; and for a moment I lose my ability to form words. I am chuckling at myself even now, recalling the previous time.
I digress. FENDI’s 2010 collections are, for lack of a more perfect word: perfect. It’s as though our minds and needs have been tapped into again this year. The clothing moves and flows like rolling waves and within the spring/summer 2010 collection is beautiful black sheer dresses. It’s an awful shame that I am currently living without them.
It has been just over a month now since I made the strenuous and life changing journey from Rochester, NY to Las Vegas. I still wonder what brought me here. Something about a life less ordinary that Vegas has to offer. I felt compelled to start living and felt Vegas was the best place for that. It didn’t hurt that one of my best friends has been out here for three years. So I packed my car with my essentials, kissed my family goodbye, and took off.
America along the way played out like a series of cultural movie trailers before the featured film. Nebraska was a film about farming. Colorado, gorgeous communities tucked in-between towering mountains. I loved those three days I spent on the road. Wouldn’t trade them for anything, because of where they were going. They were leading me to a new home; a new world where I would have to shrug the remains of my jejune nature and force myself to grow up. Catapult to adulthood.
